As a therapist who is principled in relational therapy, my counseling approach is supportive and collaborative. Which means I accept you for who you are while coming alongside you to discover your strengths, needs, motivation, and goals. With a background in depth therapy and Internal Family Systems, I believe that all symptoms appear to communicate a deeper issue. Using a variety of techniques and approaches, depending on what works best for each individual client, symptoms are explored in an effort to gain a greater understanding of the need beneath the behavior. I believe all irritable or defensive behavior is intended to be protective and once we understand what needs or wounds are being protected, other ways of meeting those needs can be explored and implemented. This therapeutic approach honors your coping strategies put in place that have helped you to survive. An environment of understanding, compassion, and support invite the repressed and shamed aspects to come forward to be seen, heard, healed, and integrated with your primary personality. I wish to provide an atmosphere where you feel that I am part of the team, to empathize in the mud and murky waters with you to explore and discover the essence of you.
